How have Avon Grove taxes increased compared to other Chester County districts?

As the primary source of funding, property taxes taxes may rise for a variety of reason, including inflation, widening enrollment, and infrastructure investment.  Normalizing the total tax collected by the total district enrollment enables comparisons among school districts with different enrollment.  Controlling for inflation also enables comparisons of resource (costs and investments) management efficiency over time.  When compared to other schools in Chester County, Avon Grove collects the second lowest amount of taxes per student ($8458) and has the second lowest percent tax increase (3.3%) from the school years 2001-2002 to 2014-15.

Over the same period in which property taxes rose 3.3% (inflation adjusted) for Avon Grove tax payers, the total district enrollment rose 23%.  The average enrollment in Chester County between the 2001-2002 and 2014-2015 school years was 20%.  Therefore, while Avon Grove enrollment grew at pace with Chester County, the tax rate rose at a significantly LOWER rate than the Chester County average over the same period (17%). Taken together these metrics suggest the Avon Grove district has managed investments and period costs effiecently to deliver a consistently high value education over an extended period of time.
